Youth orgs to lead Antique antidrug drive

SAN JOSE, Antique – The Provincial Youth Development Office (PYDO) is making efforts to organize an antidrug campaign in Antique.

The PYDO is identifying different youth organizations that could lead the drug prevention drive, which is a priority program of the National Youth Commission (NYC).

PYDO officer-in-charge Rexon on Thursday said he will meet officers of the University of Antique-Student Council, Singles for Christ and 4H Clubs at the capitol this weekend.

“We are going to discuss how we could support the NYC on its drug prevention program,” Nodque said.

He added that youth organizations in the province are still in the process of registering with the NYC.

Once they are registered, their members can avail themselves of various trainings and programs on youth development, Nodque said.

“We are also going to plan the establishment of the Provincial Youth Development Council in the province,” he added.

The creation of the Provincial Youth Development Council is necessary so that budget can be allocated by the provincial government for the youth sector, said Nodque.

He added that they have already reached out to nine organizations for this weekend’s meeting and they still call on other youth organizations to participate. (With PNA/PN)
