ROXAS City – Torrential rains that tropical storm “Basyang” brought caused river water levels in some areas in Capiz to rise.

Capiz has been placed under Topical Cyclone Warning Signal No. 1 on Monday.

Classes in all levels were suspended in Roxas City, Pontevedra, Dumalag, Dumarao, Jamindan, and Cuartero the following day.

Pontevedra has lifted its suspension order as of this writing.

Ivisan town, on the other hand, followed storm suspension guidelines by only cancelling classes in the elementary level, local reports stated.

Roxas City mayor Angel Alan Celino advised the public on Monday to “prepare measures for possible flooding and landslides.”

According to the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council, the Mait Bridge in Barangay Santo Angel, Dumalag have been impassable to light vehicles since 5 a.m. yesterday.

Barangays Santo Angel and Santa Cruz in Dumalag were now flooded, according to the DumalagMunicipal Disaster Risk Reduction Council. Some residents in the villages have evacuated./PN
