ILOILO City – More than P40,000 worth of items have gone missing from a principal’s office in Leganes, Iloilo in what the police were treating as a case of burglary.
Police learned about the incident from the Leganes Central Elementary School principal herself, Virgie Jimeno.
Jimeno, a 56-year-old resident of Barangay Napnud, Leganes, called the police at around 6:45 a.m. on Wednesday to report that her office had been ransacked.
The missing items included an Acer laptop computer worth P32,000, a 24-inch Lenovo colored flat-screen television worth P12,000 and a P500 bill.
A janitor discovered the principal’s office at the school in Barangay Poblacion was already opened minutes before Jimeno called the officers, said Senior Inspector Dadje Delima, Leganes police head.
Initial investigation showed the burglars entered the office by destroying the door’s knob using a shovel.
Delima said they already have a “person of interest” but were still gathering more evidence./PN
