BACOLOD City – A 34-year-old resident of Barangay Singcang accused of grave coercion was arrested yesterday.

Operatives from the Regional Special Operation Task Group (RSOTG) caught Ricky Serenio on Rizal Street, Barangay Zone 9, Talisay City, Negros Occidental.

Serenio was also in the watch list of drug personalities of the Bacolod City Police Office, disclosed Chief Inspector Dianne Grace Catedral, information officer for the Police Regional Office 18 (PRO-18).

Regional Trial Court Branch 54 Judge Eduardo Sayson issued the arrest warrant against Serenio and set the bail bond at P120,000, PRO-18 records showed.

Serenio was in the custody of the RSOTG as of this writing.

When he was about to be arrested, the suspect took his live-in partner Hannah Javelosa hostage, but the RSOTG operatives were able to subdue him, a report from the regional police headquarters stated.

A .45-caliber pistol with five bullets and a grenade were seized from him.

It was learned that the suspect was facing more charges.

Grave coercion was just one of the cases Police Station 2 filed against Serenio in August 2016 for allegedly abducting and threatening two suspected drug peddlers on Lacson Street on the same month.

Chief Inspector Benedicto Villarias, police station commander, said they also charged him with abduction, frustrated murder and violation of the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.

Serenio and a female companion allegedly grabbed Joem Villacojer, 28, and Roselyn Destua, 26, of Barangay 1 and pushed them into a gray Hyundai Accent car on 16th Lacson Street, reports showed.

According to the victims, Serenio handcuffed, hit and threatened to shoot them./PN
