DUMAGUETE City – Mayor Felipe Antonio Remollo wants the city to become the “heritage city’ of Negros Oriental.
“It is my administration’s desire to make Dumaguete a true heritage destination,” said Remollo during the landmark lighting ceremony of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) on Aug. 8.
A foot a parade to the Campanario de Dumaguete near St. Catherine of Alexandria Cathedral was held as a part of ASEAN’s 50th anniversary.
In his speech, the mayor mentioned the most-visited tourist spots in the province.
Remollo announced that the restoration of the old city hall will start in November.
The national government provided a fund of P50 million, he stressed.
“The restoration is one way of honoring the past,” said Remollo. (PNA)
