12-hour power outage to hit parts of Negros

Bacolod City – Some parts of the Negros Occidental province will experience power interruption, according to the National Grid Corp. of the Philippines (NGCP).

Michelle Visera, corporate communications officer of NGCP, said they will conduct maintenance activities at their Bacolod City substation and the Bacolod-San Enrique 69kV line from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Nov. 10.

Visera added affected areas for the Central Negros Electric Cooperative (Ceneco) will include power substations in barangays Alijis, Sum-ag and Lag-asan, while for the Negros Occidental Electric Cooperative, the Valladolid and San Enrique substations will experience the power outage.

Ceneco officer-in-charge Lolita Jayme said they will take advantage of the downtime to implement simultaneous maintenance activities, reminding member-consumers to turn off electrical switches during the power interruption for safety purposes.

She added consumers should also allow around 10-15 minutes before switching on all electrical appliances and facilities to avoid a power surge when the electricity resumes./PN
