CAPIZ – An 18-year-old Grade 11 student accused of sexual molestation turned himself in to the Pontevedra police on Sunday, August 18, after learning that there was a warrant of arrest against him.
Alias “Ken”, a resident of the town’s Barangay Tabuc, was the No. 6 most wanted person in Capiz, according to the Pontevedra Municipal Police Station (MPS).
Major Greg Anthony Salbang, chief of the Pontevedra MPS, said upon checking the Philippine National Police’s e-warrant system, it was confirmed that an arrest warrant for statutory rape against the suspect was issued by Judge Barabara Aleli Hernandez-Briones of Branch 1C, National Capital Judicial Region in Caloocan City dated July 19, 2024.
In an interview, Ken did not confirm nor deny the allegation against him, but he told the police that the incident happened when he was younger. He added that he had been hiding at their relative’s house in Tapaz town but left after a disagreement.
The suspect was detained at the Pontevedra MPS.
Salbang said they are coordinating with the Caloocan City police with regards to the suspect’s case./PN
