18-year-old ‘steals’ socks from mall

ILOILO City – Trying to leave a mall department store without paying for nine pairs of socks resulted in the arrest of an 18-year-old man, a police report showed.

John Wyne Firmeza, a resident of Barangay Caingin, La Paz district, was accused of stealing the items from Robinsons Place Iloilo at around 6 p.m. on June 11.

The mall’s security guard Bryan Lavitoria and administration officer John Anthony Conlu accosted Firmeza and turned him over to Police Station 1 via a patrol group.

Firmeza took four packs of Burlington socks – worth a total of P1,299 – and placed them in his bag, the mall personnel told the police.

He then tried to leave the mall without paying for the items at the cashier, they further said.

Officers seized the pairs of socks from Firmeza, who was detained in the custodial facility of Police Station 1. (Christine Lorraine Gallo, Intern/PN)
