ILOILO City – A two-day antidrug operation by the Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) led to the confiscation of approximately P1.9 million worth of suspected shabu and the arrest of 15 individuals.
The operations, conducted from 6 a.m. on Dec. 21 to 5:59 a.m. on Dec. 23, yielded around 279 grams of suspected shabu and three grams of marijuana.
Among those apprehended, three were classified as high-value targets while 12 were identified as street-level drug personalities.
The arrests were distributed across the region as follows:
* Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO) – six arrests
* Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (NOPPO) – five arrests
* Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) – three arrests
* Guimaras Police Provincial Office (GPPO) – one arrest
The IPPO recorded the largest haul, seizing illegal drugs worth P907,800, followed by the NOPPO with P346,000.
The most significant single operation occurred on Dec. 22 at around 6:45 p.m. in Barangay Cato-ogan, Pototan, Iloilo. The IPPO’s Drug Enforcement Unit arrested suspects alias “John” and alias “James” and confiscated approximately 115 grams of suspected shabu valued at P782,000.
Brigadier General Jack Wanky, director of PRO-6, lauded the efforts of law enforcement teams across the region.
“These seizures are a testament to PRO-6’s relentless pursuit to curb the problem of illegal drugs and protect the next generation from its harmful effects,” said Wanky. “Rest assured that your police will continue the effort in close coordination and collaboration with the community, local government units, and other law enforcement agencies.”
The arrested suspects are now in police custody and will face charges for violating Republic Act 9165, the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002./PN
