KALIBO, Aklan – Two drug pushing suspects were arrested in separate buy-bust operations of the police here on Good Friday, April 2.

First to be arrested was a 14-year-old boy. He sold to an undercover police officer a sachet of dried marijuana leaves for P500 around 9:40 a.m. along Abiera Road in Barangay Andagao, according to the Aklan Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit (PDEU) and Kalibo municipal police station.

Three hours after, cops busted another drug suspect – 21-year-old Darrel Marquez of Barangay Poblacion – in Purok 5 in Barangay Tinigaw around 12:40 p.m.

According to the police, the suspect also sold a sachet of dried marijuana leaves to a poseur buyer for P500.

Kalibo chief of police Major Belshazzar Villanoche said the two suspects were placed under surveillance for almost a week before their arrest.

β€œItong minor suspect kay Darrel kumukuha ng supply. Ang source naman ni Darrel dito rin sa Kalibo,” Villanoche added.

Marquez faces a charge for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 while the minor would be endorsed to the Department of Social Welfare and Development./PN
