2 more golds for Area 7 tracksters in NegOcc Palaro

TRACK and field athletes from Area 7 have scored a pair of gold-silver medal finishes at the resumption of the Negros Occidental Palarong Panlalawigan 2018 on Tuesday at the Panaad Park and Stadium in Bacolod City.

Bernalyn Bejoy captured her second gold medal of the competition as she topped the secondary girls’ 400 meter hurdles. Teammate Jennifer Hudieres settled for a silver medal finish.

Bejoy, a product of Romanito Maravilla National High School, has earlier captured a gold medal in the secondary girls 400 meter dash by tallying a personal best of 57.89 seconds.

Trexie dela Torre also clinched her second gold medal in the tournament as she ruled the secondary girls triple jump. Fellow Area 7 representative Franzine Alamo finished behind her.

For Dela Torre, a Bacolod City native, it was also her second gold medal finish after ruling the secondary girls long jump, where she tallied a personal best of 5.77 meter leap.

Angelu Gadaygan of Area 1, meanwhile, won the gold medal in secondary boys’ long jump with Joshua Tacang of Area 3 and Romeo Constancio of Area 4 finishing with silver and bronze medals.

Lyndon Huelar of Area 4 also bagged gold in the elementary boys’ shot put, with Marty Lopez of Area 3 settling for silver and Marivin Yerpo of Area 1 for bronze.

The gold medal winners in this Negros Occidental-based provincial meet are set to advance to the Western Visayas Regional Athletic Association Meet next year in Capiz City./PN
