ILOILO City – Two suspected counterfeiters of drivers’ licenses were arrested in an entrapment operation in Barangay San Rafael, Mandurriao district.
They were Jessie Alipapa, 36, of Barangay Cabolo-an Sur, Oton, Iloilo and Endralyn Cuerdo, 49, of Barangay Calumpang here, police said.
Personnel of the Land Transportation Office (LTO) in Region 6 and Mandurriao police station staged the entrapment around 9:03 a.m. on April 9.
The suspects were caught handing a fake driver’s license to a female complainant for P6,000, police said.
There have been reports that the suspects were operating in southern Iloilo, and several drivers have been victimized, according to Assistant Regional Director Gaudioso Geduspan of LTO-6.
The suspects were detained in the lockup facility of the Mandurriao police station.
Charges for violation of Republic Act 9485, or The Anti-Red Tape Act of 2007 will be filed against them./PN
