BACOLOD City – Two persons were killed in a shooting incident in Barangay Marcelo, Calatrava, Negros Occidental.
Police identified them as Jemar Jemida, 34, and Roberto Sanopao, Jr., 32 – all residents of the village.
Tagged suspect was 28-year-old resident Jerone Baynosa.
According to police investigators, Baynosa shot Jemida on the head and body while the latter was resting with Sanopao at a store around 3 p.m. on Aug. 16.
Sanopao allegedly attempted to snatch the firearm of Baynosa but was also shot by the suspect on the chest. Jemida and Sanopao were rushed to the Calatrava District Hospital where the attending physician declared them “dead on arrival.”
Officers of the Calatrava municipal police station conducted a manhunt operation against the suspect, who fled after the incident./PN
