BACOLOD City – Two shops were not allowed to set up along Rizal Street, Barangay 12.
Cynthia M. Ledesma of CML Organizer Exhibitors Souvenir Items and Service, and Marife B. Fernandez of MBF Transient Organizing Services asked the Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP) to allow them to sell next to a pasalubong establishment from April 5 to May 5.
But the SP denied this request. Councilor Caesar Distrito said the area they want to occupy is already part of the road.
The shops also asked to be allowed to set up at a portion of the public plaza, along the sidewalk on Rizal Street, for a trade fair from April 1 to May 31. The city council approved this, said Distrito.
The owners were able to secure a permission letter from Bishop Patricio Buzon and an endorsement from the City Mayor’s Office.
The Diocese of Bacolod owns the portion of the plaza where the shops want to set up.
Distrito reminded the owners that they must follow conditions, including the payment of P20,000 and securing a business permit.
Owners must ensure their shops do not encroach the sidewalk and their personnel maintain sanitation in their areas, the councilor said.
Distrito clarified that these conditions do not include those imposed by the diocese./PN
