ROXAS City – At least 22 mass blood donation activities are scheduled in the province, according to the Philippine Red Cross-Capiz Chapter calendar.

Various groups spearheaded the blood donation activities that will be held this November.

One of the activities was organized by Bombo Radyo and Star FM stations.

Set on Nov. 18, Dugong Bombo mass blood donation program has been a consistent Philippine Red Cross’ Sandugo Awardee for the most successful blood donation event in the non-local government unit category.

Philippine Red Cross regional donor recruitment officer Ketch Armiza said other bloodletting activities were organized by a seminarians’ alumni group, the Capiz State University-Mambusao campus, local government units of Ivisan, Sigma, Sapi-an, and Dao towns, and 15 barangay councils.

“Ten of 16 municipalities in the province have already reached their respective blood unit target for the year as of Oct. 31,” said Armiza, adding that they are expecting for three more towns to reach their target by end of the year.

Armiza said Capiz has already exceeded its target of 7,849 blood units on Sept. 30. He attributed this to a series of bloodletting activities conducted in the province. (PIA/PN)
