232 Buenavista residents TUPAD beneficiaries

BUENAVISTA, Guimaras – A total of 232 residents here will be able to benefit from the Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged / Displaced Workers (TUPAD) program of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE).

TUPAD is a community-based package of assistance that provides emergency employment for displaced workers, underemployed and seasonal workers for a minimum of 10 days.

DOLE turned over P1,010,592 TUPAD funds to the local government on Dec. 8 during its 88th founding anniversary celebration at SM City Iloilo in Mandurriao, Iloilo City.

These would be used to pay the salaries of beneficiaries that the municipal government would hire for special jobs. The priorities are those in the informal sector reeling from the economic fallout of the pandemic.

Per DOLE’s guidelines, the following types of projects can be supported with TUPAD assistance:

* Social community projects, such as repair, maintenance, and/or improvement of common public facilities and infrastructure such as schools and health centers, debris clearing, de-clogging of canals, debris segregation and materials recovery, stockpiling and clearing

* Economic community projects like repair, maintenance and/or rehabilitation of farm-to-market roads, bridges, post-harvest facilities, public markets and common service facilities such as production and display centers, fish ports

* Agro-forestry community projects, such as tree planting, seedling preparation, and reforestation./PN
