3-month seminar for new Antique brgy execs starts September

SAN JOSE, Antique – A three-month seminar for newly elected village officials will begin September in Antique.

The Liga ng mga Barangay in the province and the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) are now working on a memorandum of agreement in relation to the seminar.

The seminar is mandatory among newly elected barangay officials. It aims to equip them with barangay governance and administration skills.

Local Government Operations Officer Anna Carolina Jardiolin on Friday said Liga provincial president Pamela Socorro Azucena went to the DILG-Antique office to discuss the preparations for the seminar.

There are 18 towns with a total of 590 barangays in Antique.

Jardiolin said the newly elected village officials from barangays will be grouped in clusters for the seminar.

Each of the clusters will have at most 125 members.

Aside from those in Caluya, village officials from 17 other towns in the province will attend the seminar in this capital town. (With a report from PNA/PN)
