3 nabbed for dynamite fishing in Roxas City

ROXAS City – Three fishermen onboard a motor banca were arrested for allegedly engaging in dynamite fishing in Barangay Tanza in this city on Monday, May 27.

The suspects identified as aliases “Nonoy,” “RJ” and “Mar,” all residents of the aforementioned village, were taken into custody by the Capiz Maritime Police Station.

They will be charged for violation of Republic Act 10654’s Section 92 (Fishing through Explosives, Noxious or Poisonous Substance, or Electricity) and Section 126 (Possessing, Dealing In or Disposing Illegally Caught or Taken Fish).

Officers of the Capiz Maritime Police Station confiscated a bottle of alleged explosive (dynamite), improvised blasting cap with safety fuse and improvised fins.

Also seized were the fishermen’s motor banca and around 30 kilos of assorted fish valued at approximately P3,000./PN
