AKLAN – The Aklan Police Provincial Office (PPO), through the Malay Municipal Police Station (MPS), established a help desk for indigenous peoples (IPs) on Monday, May 27.
Located at Ati Village in Barangay Manoc-manoc, Malay town, the help desk aims to provide IPs a space to seek assistance and report concerns.
On behalf of Aklan PPO director Colonel Victorino Romanillos Jr., Deputy Provincial Director for Operations Lieutenant Colonel Beenard Ufano emphasized the need to assist and ensure the safety and security of the IPs.
He said the initiative marks a crucial step in fostering a safer and more supportive environment for IPs in Aklan.
For his part, Malay MPS chief Lieutenant Colonel Mar Joseph B. Ravelo said the help desk is strategically located at the entrance of the Ati Village, with assigned police personnel ready to provide information and assistance to the IPs.
“This desk will function as an information and coordination center, facilitating collaboration with other government agencies to better serve the IP community,” said Ravelo.
The event concluded with a heartfelt performance by IP children, expressing their
