BACOLOD City – The Negros Occidental provincial government will start building three major infrastructure projects in 2017.
Construction is expected to commence Jan. 1, said Provincial Engineer Ernie Mapa.
These projects include the Negros First Pala-Pala and Food Terminal (P114.65 million), development of the capitol-run Sweet City Captel (P113.9 million), and renovation and construction of the Mambukal Mountain Resort (P84.8 million).
Negros First Pala-Pala and Food Terminal will have a two-storey building that will house a food plaza, a bagsakan, wet and dry markets, and function rooms.
A medium-scale four-storey hotel will be built at the back of the Sweet City Captel, while the existing dormitory rooms will be renovated.
“It will be a dormitory-and-hotel facility,” Mapa said.
At the Mambukal resort, a four-storey hotel and a convention center will be constructed, while the Tourist Lodge will be rehabilitated.
Another pending project is the P185.9-million renovation and expansion of the Provincial Administration Center, but Mapa said they have yet to hold a public bidding for it.
“A new two-storey building will be constructed in the middle of the existing U-shaped building to house a bodega and offices on the ground floor and more offices on the second floor,” said the engineer.
Gov. Alfredo Marañon Jr. said the projects will be funded by a P500-million capitol loan./PN
