ILOILO City – In just a week, the Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) was able to reprimand and fine 3,484 violators of the standard health protocols against coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) here.
A total of 1,278 individuals have been warned and 15 fined for violating the social distancing protocol; 12 fined and 814 warned for not wearing face shield; and 598 fined and 767 warned for not wearing facemasks.
The violations were recorded from March 14 to March 20.
Police Station 1 (PS1) or the City Proper police station was able to warn 53 individuals for not wearing face shield; 167 were warned and six fined for not wearing facemasks; and 204 warned for violation of social distancing.
La Paz police station (PS2) was able to reprimand/warn a total of 221 people who have no face shield; 423 warned for not wearing facemasks; and 337 warned for not observing social distancing.
Cops of the Jaro police station warned 86 individuals for not wearing face shield; fined 94 for not wearing facemasks; and 139 warned and one fined for violation of social distancing.
As to the Molo police station, 150 people have been warned for not wearing face shield; 386 warned for not wearing facemasks; and 387 warned for violating the social distancing protocol.
Meanwhile, in the Mandurriao police station (PS5), 113 were warned and 12 were fined for not wearing face shield; 86 warned and 61 fined for not wearing facemasks; and 96 warned and 10 fined for violation of social distancing.
Arevalo police station was able to warn 191 people for not wearing face shield; 91 warned and 51 fined for not wearing facemasks; and 115 warned and 4 fined for violation of social distancing protocol.
The figures were apart from the previous apprehensions by policemen or compliance officers deployed by the city.
City Regulation Ordinance (RO) No. 2020-085, which amended the penalties of RO No. 2020-061, mandates the wearing of facemasks or face covering in public during pandemic, and increases fine and includes community service of eight hours for three consecutive days.
Non-wearing of face shields or eye protector has corresponding penalties, same with non-wearing of facemask: P1,000 for the first offense; P2,000 for the second offense, and P3,000 for the third and succeeding offense and/or community service of eight hours a day for three days for first offense; eight hours a day for five days for second offense; and eight hours a day for seven days for third and succeeding offense.
Meantime, Regulation Ordinance 2020-066 implementing physical distancing imposes P500 penalty for violators and P5,000 fine for public establishments for not ensuring physical distancing of one meter space between persons in their premises./PN
