3rd District gains lead in ISSC Meet

ILOILO City – Congressional District Sports Association (CDSA) 3 took the top spot in the medal standings of the ongoing Iloilo School Sports Council Meet 2019 after three days of competition.

As of Wednesday afternoon, CDSA 3 took the top spot after garnering 53 gold, 26 silver and 42 bronze medals.

ILOPRISAA follows at second with 38-11-8, while CDSA 4 is at third with 30-28-34.

Wushu bet Jansen Pareja of CDSA 3 captured two golds in the boys 52 and 48 kilograms category.

Joshua Villa added a silver in 48 kg, while Sheena Alag had a bronze in 52 kg girls.

ILOPRISAA notched most of its gold in badminton with Maria Arvana Belen and Ysabel Aurora Amora ruling the secondary girls doubles. Lyrden Laborte and Jochelle Alvarez topped the men’s and women’s singles.

Swimmer Kyla Soguilon topped the 100-meter backstroke and 50-meter butterfly while Jillian Bata netted a gold in elementary girls backstroke before taking silver with Ella Dela Vega, Kathrynne Bibit and Phoebe Payofilin in relay.

ILOPRISAA also netted a gold in chess from Checy Alina Telesforo and Cherisse Gomez in secondary girls standard.

CDSA 5, meanwhile, captured their golds in wushu courtesy of Mary Rose Agustin, Joey Bullos Jr., Reshwin Tero and Derrick Cha.

CDSA 4 bagged golds in swimming relay from Wyne Kate Alcoran, Merilyn Gronifillo, Kyla Marie Belicena and Angela Sespene; Angelo Mosaso and Ryan Villaruel in badminton doubles, and Leanne Pama and Christine Juanico in singles.

ISSC’s John Rafael Santiago and Eric Binas also won golds in elementary boys doubles tennis event./PN
