ILOILO — Almost every local government unit (LGU) in Iloilo Province has earned the Department of the Interior and Local Government’s (DILG) 2025 Good Financial Housekeeping (GFH) recognition, with only one municipality failing to make the list as Western Visayas posted another strong showing in financial transparency and accountability.
The DILG announced that all five provinces in Western Visayas — Iloilo, Antique, Guimaras, Aklan, and Capiz — together with Iloilo City and 98 other LGUs across the region, passed the 2025 Good Financial Housekeeping assessment.
In Iloilo Province, 42 of the 43 assessed LGUs successfully met the standards for sound fiscal management, leaving San Rafael as the lone municipality that did not qualify for this year’s recognition.
According to DILG Region 6, LGUs must satisfy two major requirements to earn the Good Financial Housekeeping seal.
These include obtaining either an Unmodified or Qualified opinion from the Commission on Audit (COA) based on the latest Annual Audit Report, and complying with the Full Disclosure Policy by posting complete and timely financial documents in three conspicuous public places and on the Full Disclosure Policy Portal from the second to fourth quarters of Calendar Year 2024 and the first quarter of Calendar Year 2025.
The province-by-province breakdown showed 17 passers each from Aklan, Antique, and Capiz; all five municipalities of Guimaras; and 42 municipalities plus Passi City in Iloilo Province.
The Iloilo provincial government welcomed the latest recognition, emphasizing that the award reflects the commitment of local governments to transparency, accountability, and responsible management of public funds.
The provincial government stressed that earning the distinction goes beyond receiving an award.
