ILOILO City – Forty-two drug dependents at the waterfront area completed their one-month rehabilitation at the Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6).
They were the first batch of identified drug dependents in six barangays surrounding Camp Delgado – the headquarters of the PRO-6 – to benefit from the regional police’s drug rehabilitation program.
On Oct. 31, the 42 received their diplomas.
The rehabilitated persons came from the villages of Concepcion, Rizal Ibarra, Zamora, Duran, Sto. Rosario, and Dela Rama.
One of the graduates, a 41-year-old man who asked not to be identified and invoked his privacy, said he had been a shabu user for four years.
He said he promised his family not to snort shabu again.
Rehabilitation sessions were conducted four hours a day from Monday to Friday, 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. at Camp Delgado Chapel and whole day during Saturdays.
According to Superintendent Gilbert Gorero, PRO-6 spokesperson, there will be another batch of drug dependents to be rehabilitated soon in coordination with the city government.
This program is administered by the Sobering Our Barangay and Empowering Recovery (SOBER) Intervention Team, a community-based rehabilitation treatment program (CBRTP) pathway of the Recovery Program Foundation, Inc. based in Cagayan de Oro City./PN
