ILOILO City – Fire struck a house in Barangay Cadilang, Passi City, killing a five-month-old baby girl.
Rexie Heart Mende died of third-degree burns on Sunday.
She was sleeping alone in the house when the fire struck around 5 p.m., according to Police Officer 3 Joeme Pastrana of Pass City.
The mother, Jennylyn, left the baby momentarily for her parents-in-law’s house just a few meters away, said Pastrana.
The fire quickly gutted the house made of light materials and the neighbors were rendered helpless, said Pastrana.
According to the Bureau of Fire Protection of Passi City, short circuit may have caused the fire.
It estimated the damage to have reached P7,500./PN
