BACOLOD City – Five drug suspects were arrested in separate antidrug operations last week in Negros Oriental.
In Dumaguete City, a drug bust led to the arrest of the 39-year-old Amelito Sarmiento Jamon and 34-year-old Jinky Oldiana Joven. Both were residents of Zone 4, Barangay Lo-oc in the city.
Jamon and Joven were caught around 12:12 p.m. on Thursday by the Negros Oriental Regional Police Public Safety Company Intelligence operatives and Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit.
Confiscated from them were five sachets of suspected shabu including the buy-bust item and P500 marked money.
A 33-year-old resident of Barangay Sta. Agueda in Pamplona town was also collared in a police operation on the same day.
Junrey Chin Tano handed one plastic sachet of suspected shabu to a poseur-buyer in exchange for P500.
He is currently detained at Pamplona police station.
Meanwhile, the same operation was conducted in Canlaon City on Thursday, leading to the arrest of Romulo Bartolin Tan, a resident of Barangay Mabigo in the city.
The 30-year-old suspect yielded three sachets of suspected shabu. Also recovered from him were P140 cash amount and P300 marked money.
In Tanjay City, a drug pushing suspect was nabbed by the police.
Around 8:30 p.m. on Thursday, Leopold Morales Agir, 52, a resident of Magallanes Street, Barangay 8 in the city, handed one sachet of suspected shabu to an undercover policeman.
The illegal drug had a market value of P1,000, police said.
Agir is currently detained at Tanjay City police station lockup cell.
