ILOILO – As part of a rigorous internal cleansing program, the Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO) conducted its second round of mandatory drug testing for the year, screening 520 more personnel on Tuesday, February 24.
The testing, held at the Ilonggo Cops Covered Gym in Camp Francisco U. Sumagaysay Sr. in Sta. Barbara town, was facilitated by the Iloilo Provincial Forensic Unit led by Police Major Homel F. Sorra. This forms part of the Philippine National Police’s (PNP) ongoing initiative to bolster integrity and professionalism within its ranks.
The IPPO has so far tested a total of 1,113 uniformed and non-uniformed personnel since January. This represents approximately 46 percent of the provincial police office’s total strength.
IPPO director Police Colonel Bayani Razalan emphasized that the sustained conduct of mandatory drug testing reinforces the PNP’s strict zero-tolerance policy regarding illegal drug use.
He added that it supports the police force’s ongoing internal cleansing program aimed at maintaining public trust and confidence.
The IPPO said that any personnel found in violation of these policies will be subject to appropriate administrative sanctions to ensure that every Ilonggo cop remains faithful to their oath of service./PN
