BACOLOD City – Defying the national order prohibiting illegal cockfighting nationwide, 78 bettors were caught in a police operation in Hacienda Maria Jose in Barangay San Isidro, E.B. Magalona, Negros Occidental.
The suspects were arrested around 12:30 p.m. on June 13 by joint operatives of the E.B. Magalona police station under Police Captain Eric Doronila and 4th Platoon of the 1st Negros Occidental Provincial Mobile Force Company (NOCPMFC) led by Police Lieutenant Pantaleon Amante.
Police confiscated 14 game fowls (two wounded, six live and six dead), one gaff, one tally sheet of bets, two pairs of scissors, and P2,000 cash in various denominations.
Charges for violation of Presidential Decree 449 (Cockfighting Law of 1974) would be filed against the suspects./PN
