ILOILO City – Eighty-one local government units (LGUs) across Western Visayas have been recognized for meeting national standards on children’s welfare, following the 2025 Child-Friendly Local Governance Audit (CFLGA) conducted by the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Region 6.
The audit — an annual national assessment — evaluates how effectively LGUs implement programs, policies, and systems that protect and advance the rights and well-being of children. For Fiscal Year 2025, the CFLGA measured the 2024 performance of LGUs in promoting child protection, health, education, and development.
“This recognition affirms the continued commitment of LGUs in Region 6 to uphold child welfare and foster communities where every child is nurtured, protected, and empowered to reach their fullest potential,” the DILG-6 said.
The release of the list also coincided with the culminating observance of National Children’s Month under Republic Act 10661, which commemorates the 1989 adoption of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child.
