KALIBO, Aklan – Eighty-six schools in the province of Aklan, including five in Boracay Island, have joined the progressive expansion of limited face-to-face classes.
The Department of Education (DepEd) released the list of 86 elementary and secondary schools to participate in in-person classes after the onsite validation of the regional composite team along with Division composite team on May 18 to 19.
Of the 380 schools in Aklan, 35 schools initially esumed limited face-to-face classes.
Aklan Schools Division Superintendent Miguel Mac Aposin said the opening of pilot schools for face-to-face classes went smoothly.
Five private institutions in Kalibo, Malinao, Buruanga, Nabas, and Ibajay towns have been approved to resume limited face-to face classes. The schools were Infant Jesus Academy; St. Joseph’s Academy, Inc. of Malinao, Aklan; Buruanga Academy; Ibajay Academy, Inc.; and Western Aklan Academy, Inc.
The Balabag Elementary School, Lamberto H. Tirol National High School, Manocmanoc Elementary School, Manocmanoc National High School, and Yapak Elementary School in Boracay Island also passed the onsite validation. The schools started classes on May 23 and May 30.
Other schools allowed by DepEd to start in-person classes are the following:

* Madalag – Alaminos Elementary School, Balactasan Elementary School, Madalag Elementary School, Madalag National High School, Mamba Elementary School, Paningayan Elementary School
* Malinao – Kinalangay Viejo Integrated School, Malandayon Primary School, Malinao Elementary School, Manhanip Primary School, San Roque Integrated School
* Buruanga – Balusbus Elementary School, Mayapay Elementary School
* Malay – Argao Elementary School, Cubay Elementary School, Malay Elementary School, Malay National High School, Naasog Elementary School, Napaan Elementary School, Sambiray Primary School, Kabulihan-Dumlog Elementary School
* Libacao – Guadalupe National High School, Alfonso XII National High School, Libacao National Forestry Vocational High School, Calacabian Elementary School
