ILOILO City – Nine staff of Commission on Elections (Comelec) – Iloilo City located at the second floor of the Iloilo Terminal Market contracted coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
Reverse transcription – polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) tests confirmed their infection, according to Election Assistant Officer Jonathan Sayno.
A female employee on Jan. 14 exhibited flu-like symptoms and thus had RT-PCR test.
Some 17 other staff decided to undergo RT-PCR tests, too, said Sayno.
Results were released yesterday. Nine were infected. They were immediately told to isolate.
Comelec-Iloilo City decided to temporarily close its office for disinfection.
It will reopen on Thursday, Jan. 20./PN
