BACOLOD City – Eleven people were arrested for illegal drug-related offenses in Silay City, Negros Occidental.
Police caught nine around 4 p.m. on Thursday on Plaridel Street, Barangay 1.
The 35-year-old Alain Gamboa — the No. 1 drug suspect in Silay — sold suspected shabu to an undercover officer in his shanty.
Also caught were Christopher Po, 35, of Barangay 3; Joemel Llague, 28, of Barangay Rizal; Renato Esman Jr., 28, Rolly Flores, 30, Larry Flores, 36, Joemar Potion, 26, and Alejo Flores, 33, all of Barangay 1; and Ralston Dicen, 26, of Barangay 5.
Two other suspects — Silay city hall worker Harold Suarez and an unidentified man — escaped, said Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit head Mark Anthony Darroca.
Officers seized 18 plastic packs of suspected shabu worth P25,000 from the suspects.
In light of the operation, police surveilled Sitio Lupa, Barangay Guinhalaran, Silay City around 10:50 p.m. when they caught 24-year-old resident Ernan Gargallano and his unidentified live-in partner.
The couple yielded P2,000 worth of suspected shabu and drug paraphernalia, said Superintendent Willy Diel, Silay City police chief.
Gamboa was the first drug personality in Silay who turned himself in to the police under Oplan Double Barrel on July 7.
Mayor Mark Golez said he will fire Suarez. He directed the police to arrest Suarez as soon as possible./PN
