ILOILO City – The police charged two women of violating the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 (Republic Act 9165) yesterday at the Iloilo City Prosecutor’s Office.

Shabu worth P1.1 million (139 grams) was seized from Jennie Bee Goriona, 37, of Barangay Mabolo-Delgado, City Proper and Vivien Sian, 37, of Barangay Gustilo, La Paz district on Sunday.

The Regional Drug Enforcement Unit (RDEU) of the Police Regional Office 6 that arrested the two women specifically filed a complaint for violation of Republic Act 9165’s Article II, Section 5 (trading and transporting illegal drugs).

According to Senior Inspector Rey Pabalan of the RDEU, the women could face life imprisonment and a fine ranging from P500 thousand to P10 million if convicted./PN
