KALIBO, Aklan – Gov. Florencio Miraflores will deliver his annual State of the Province Address (SOPA) today.

Miraflores is expected to share his vision for a “people-focused government” and present his priorities in the year ahead.

Significant achievements in tourism, health services, infrastructure development, fiscal administration, agriculture and fishery, employment and investments, environmental protection, peace and order, and youth programs will likely be included in the SOPA.

There will be an inauguration of a new two-storey Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP) building before the governor’s 13th SOPA, which will be attended by Sen. Cynthia Villar as guest speaker.

The old SP building, a former school building, is beside the Aklan provincial capitol. It has served as the administrative office of board members used for sessions and hearings since the early 90s.

Miraflores served as the provincial chief executive from 1995 to 2004. He later became Aklan’s congressman for nine years and was reelected as governor in 2013 and 2016. (Aklan Forum Journal/PN)
