ILOILO City – Two people – including an alleged relative of the fugitive suspected drug lord Richard Prevendido – were arrested in Barangay Tiring, Cabatuan, Iloilo.
Residents Larry Guarin, 40, and live-in partner Barbara Prevendido, 34, were detained at the Cabatuan police station.
Senior Inspector Sullen Domingo, Cabatuan police chief, said they have been tracking the suspects for two years and managed to negotiate with them two weeks ago.
The two sold to a police asset a sachet of shabu for P500 near their house around 12:45 p.m. on Aug. 4, Domingo said.
A total of 10 sachets of shabu and illegal drug paraphernalia were recovered from them.
“They are too elusive. They sell drugs only to their trusted buyers. They refuse to transact with anyone not familiar to them,” Domingo told Panay News.
An empty plastic pack with shabu residue was seized from Prevendido, suggesting that the couple had just finished snorting drugs when caught, he added.
Police were still verifying the relation of Barbara Prevendido to the fugitive suspected drug lord.
Richard Prevendido – also known as “Buang” – remains at large. He has a P1.1-million bounty on his head.
The live-in partners have no record with their Barangay Anti-Drug Abuse Council (BADAC), Domingo said. He was puzzled.
“I was wondering because most of the villagers know them to be engaged in drug sale. We have to investigate further,” he said./PN
