ILOILO City – “Bookies” continues in Iloilo province.
Police arrested a senior citizen allegedly soliciting bets for the illegal numbers game at a public market in Leon town.
Francisco Callocallo, 84, of Barangay Barasong, Tigbauan was detained at the Leon police station after his arrest around 5:30 p.m. on Aug. 4.
Gambling paraphernalia and P400 worth of bets were seized from him.
A day earlier, in this city, another person was arrested for allegedly soliciting bookies bets.
Officers from Police Station 1 caught the 40-year-old Joy Gardonia on Arroyo Street around 9 p.m. on Aug. 3.
Bundles of cotejos (betting stubs), ball pens and P7,500 worth of bets were recovered from the resident of Barangay Yulo-Arroyo.
