BACOLOD City – An employee of the Department of Education was shot to death on Paterno Street, Barangay Poblacion, Guihulngan City, Negros Oriental.

The 46-year-old Oscar Solania Jr. of the same village was about to ride his motorcycle parked in front of a school when attacked, police said.

There were two gunmen, according to Senior Police Officer 2 Alan Ray Bulandres.

One of them sat next to Solania first around 11:28 a.m. on Aug. 30 before drawing a gun and firing at the victim several times, Bulandres said, citing a witness.

Another gunman appeared, approached Solania who was already on the ground, and fired finishing shots, police said.

The suspects fled on board a white car.

Solania was rushed to the Governor William “Billy” Villegas Memorial Hospital but was declared “dead on arrival.”

Police found at the crime scene 10 empty shells and three slugs of a .45 pistol. They were still trying to determine the motive as of this writing./PN
