ILOILO City – Medalya ng Kagalingan or Philippine National Police Efficiency Medals were given to policemen who neutralized drug lord Richard “Buang” Prevendido, Western Visayas’ most wanted man.
At Camp Delgado, the headquarters of the Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6), yesterday morning, the officers were hailed for bringing “honor and pride” to the police organization.
Leading the honorees were Senior Superintendent Jesus Cambay Jr., PRO-6 deputy director for operations; Senior Superintendent Marlon Tayaba, Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO) director; Superintendent Julius Balano of PRO-6’s Regional Intelligence Division (RID); IPPO Intelligence chief, Chief Inspector Jonathan Pinuela; Senior Inspector Jigger Gimeno of the RID; and Senior Inspector Tranquilno Queruben, Jaro police station chief.
“Nararapat lang bigyan ng honor ang mga pulis natin na nagtrabaho ng husto. It’s been our honor to have police officers who work hard to bring honor and pride not only for themselves but to the PRO-6,” said Chief Superintendent Cesar Hawthorne Binag, regional police director.
He expressed confidence that the demise of Prevendido on Sept. 1 would result to the reduction of the supply of shabu in Western Visayas and incidents of drug-related crimes.
Binag recalled there was an estimated 60 percent drop in the supply of “hard drugs” in the region after suspected drug lord Melvin Odicta Sr. and wife Meriam were killed at the Caticlan jetty port in Malay, Aklan on Aug. 29, 2016.
The neutralization of Prevendido was “a product of our very good intelligence, the support of the community through the information they provided and the bounty,” said Binag.
Medalya ng Kagalingan were also awarded yesterday to Chief Inspector Jojo Tabaloc, police chief of Banate, Iloilo; Chief Inspector Juvy Cordero and Senior Inspector Christian Mahometano both of San Jose, Antique; and Senior Police Officers 2 Recie Espinosa and Felipe Paredes from Banate, Iloilo for the arrest of suspected Budol-Budol Gang members on Aug. 18, 2017 at CRCI Beach Resort, Barangay Alacaygan, Banate.
The suspects were Honey Sumagaysay, 60; Cayroding Abdul Salam, 31; Latip Datumanong, 22; Elena Licauan, 57; and Rosque Prior, 50, all residents of San Andres Bukid, Manila; Obqien Villa Blanca, 54, and Leny dela Cruz, 60, both residents of Tagum City, Davao del Sur; Danny Ortiz, 40, and Jeremias Bacugray, 69, both of Davao City; and Rogelio Feliselda Jr., 27, of Davao del Norte.
Meanwhile, for the successful entrapment of suspect Roberto Francisco for violation of the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act on Aug. 10 in Molo, Iloilo City, the following were bestowed with Philippine National Police Efficiency Medal too: Senior Superintendent Francisco Esguerra, regional chief of the Criminal investigation and Detection Group (CIDG); Superintendent Julius Jacinto, Senior Police Officer 2 Vicente Demadara and Senior Police Officer 1 Joie Revesencio./PN
