ILOILO – The provincial government is releasing another half a million pesos as reward to the Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO) for the successful neutralization of drug lord Richard “Buang” Prevendido.
It previously allotted P500 thousand as reward to whoever could give information leading to the drug lord’s capture.
“The Province of Iloilo persistently supports the antidrug campaign and commends the relentless efforts of the Philippine National Police to suppress disorder, lawless violence, and apprehend violators of law, by maintaining peace and order in the entire Province of Iloilo,” read part of Gov. Arthur Defensor Sr.’s executive order on the additional reward.
Prevendido and son Jason were killed in a joint operation of the IPPO, Iloilo City Police Office and Regional Intelligence Division of the Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) on Sept. 1 at Phase IV, Landheights Subdivision, Barangay Balabago, Jaro, Iloilo City.
Defensor cited IPPO director Senior Superintendent Marlon Tayaba who took the lead role in the operation.
Early this year, the Provincial Peace and Order Council that Defensor chaired agreed to allot a P500 thousand bounty to informants after a court issued an arrest warrant against Prevendido for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
This amount increased the bounty for Prevendido’s capture to a million pesos. The city government of Iloilo previously allotted P500 thousand for a similar objective.
The PRO-6 itself also added a modest amount, increasing the bounty to P1.1 million./PN
