ILOILO City – Drug lord Richard “Buang” Prevendido tested positive for gunpowder nitrates, indicating he fired a gun, according to the Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6).
His son Jason, however, tested negative for gunpowder burns, results of the paraffin test conducted by the PRO-6’s crime laboratory showed.
Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Director General Ronald dela Rosa said Western Visayas’ most wanted man had an intention to resist arrest.
Dela Rosa told Manila-based Super Radyo dzBB that of the suspected big-time drug lords in President Rodrigo Duterte’s drug list in the Visayas, only Prevendido did not present himself to Camp Crame and had remained in hiding.
“Talagang kampante at desidido siya…hindi ito sumurender. Hindi nagpakita sa atin,” said Dela Rosa.
Prevendido and son were shot by policemen tasked to serve an arrest warrant on Sept. 1 in Barangay Balabago, Jaro district. The two were renting a secluded house at Landheights Subdivision.
According to Chief Superintendent Cesar Hawthorne Binag, regional police director, Prevendido’s right hand had gunpowder nitrates.
“The paraffin test proved that the elder Prevendido fired upon our operating units,” said Binag.
The director, meanwhile, said investigation was continuing to identify the owner of the house that the Prevendidos were renting.
“I already tasked my men to follow this up. I consulted a lawyer, too, for the possible forfeiture of the property. It was used by criminals,” said Binag.
Among the recoveries in the house were a .45 pistol, two .38 revolvers, an AK-47, four cellphones, assorted ammunition, four laptop computers, two sachets of shabu, eight bolos, several jewelry items, a wallet containing an identification card of Jason, and a crossbow.
