ILOILO City – A 59-year-old woman from Barangay Bagacay West, Maasin, Iloilo was arrested over a “bouncing” check.

Sally Degala was hauled to the custodial facility of the Maasin police station.

Officers served her a warrant of arrest and brought her to the station at around 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, a police report showed.

Degala was charged with violation of Batas Pambansa 22, a 1979 law that penalizes the “making or drawing and issuance of a check without sufficient funds or credit.”

Judge Jerry Marañon of the Municipal Trial Court in Cities in Passi City issued the warrant and set the bail bond at P2,000.

It was not immediately clear as of this writing whether or not the suspect has posted bail./PN
