BACOLOD City – Vice Gov. Jose Eugenio Lacson is considering tourism as an alternative source of revenue for Negros Occidental.
Lacson said the province is the “second most-visited area” by local tourists.
Lacson believed that with the influx of visitors, the province can solve its problem on the sugar industry, which is the largest source of income in the locality.
“We have to know how we got here and I hope someday we will be the number one local tourist destination,” Lacson said.
The vice governor cited The Ruins, Mambukal Resort, and Campuestuhan, among others, to have been attracting tourists.
Lacson said other local governments must come up with their own tourist attractions.
Local delicacies may also boost the tourism industry in the province, Lacson added./PN
