BACOLOD City – The Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) wanted to relay a message.
The BCPO, through the Facebook account Pnp Bacolod, released a statement telling the public that it is “doing its best” to counter crimes.
This was after the BCPO gained negative comments from social media posts citing the spate of theft and robbery incidents in the city.
Senior Police Officer 1 Jared Esquilla, BCPO spokesperson, confirmed that the BCPO owns the post.
“With all due respect and in fairness, PNP (Philippine National Police) Bacolod is doing its best in its anticrime efforts. We treat every crime incident seriously. Please let us not be too judgmental” were the first words of the statement.
According to the post, the “gains and/or activities” of the BCPO were posted on social media for the public to see.
One of these gains was the decline in the crime rates, which the post compared to records in years 2014 and 2015.
It said the data to support the claim are readily available at the PNP Headquarters in Camp Crame, Quezon City.
The post also compared the city’s crime solution efficiency to that of Iloilo City, though without presenting figures.
It further claimed that the BCPO ranked 1st in terms of anti-illegal drug operations in the Negros Island based on the number of apprehensions, illegal drug confiscations and neutralization of high-value targets.
But having admitted that “every place has [its] own share of crimes,” the post said the city will become safer if the community coordinates with the police.
“We gladly welcome all criticisms. After all, they serve as our inspiration to strive more on our delivery of public service. Let’s help and support po our local PNP,” the post said./PN
