BACOLOD City – A police officer was found with a gunshot wound on the head along the national highway in Purok 1, Barangay Poblacion, Mabinay, Negros Oriental.

The 28-year-old resident Jay Ramel Nogra, police officer 1 of the Mabinay Police Station, was found beside his motorcycle around 3:30 a.m. on Oct. 11, with his .9mm-caliber pistol detached from its holster, a police report showed.

Nogra was brought to the Medical Center Hospital but was declared long dead.

Police said Nogra was one of the officers who conducted an intelligence monitoring in the village around 9 p.m. on Oct. 10.

Police were still investigating if Nogra’s service firearm accidentally fired or if someone shot him./PN
