ILOILO City – Restaurants and bars most especially at the Smallville and Atria entertainment and leisure complexes in Barangay San Rafael, Mandurriao district should not sell liquor to minors, according to Senior Superintendent Henry Biñas, director of the Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO).
“Dapat i-impose nila ang liquor ban (ordinance) kag curfew (ordinance on) minors. Those nga madakpan (violating the ordinances) will be held liable,” said Biñas.
The director appealed for the cooperation of the managements of restaurants and bars, and especially their security guards.
They should not let minors enter their establishments, said Biñas.
Security guards should immediately alert the police assigned at Smallville and Atria should there be minors insistent on entering bars and restaurants, stressed the director.
“We should help one another keep these areas safe,” said Biñas.
The ICPO had deployed more policemen to Smallville and Atria following a spate of violent clashes between warring gangs of youngsters mostly happening at night.
The Mandurriao police station has jurisdiction over Smallville and Atria. It got augmentation from the Regional Public Safety Battalion of the Police Regional Office 6 and Iloilo City Public Safety Company.
ICPO’s Special Weapons and Tactics cops are also posted at Smallville and Atria nightly from 10 p.m. to 4 a.m.
Biñas previously stressed the importance of security cameras at Smallville and Atria. He, however, observed that some were not functioning.
“We need high-quality cameras to help curb and solve crimes. I’m planning to meet business establishment owners about this,” he said./PN
