MANILA – Preparations are under way for the Philippine National Games that Cebu City will host from Dec. 10 to 17, the Philippine Sports Commission has announced.

The commission continues to support grassroots sports through the National Games, according to Chairman William “Butch” Ramirez.

“Deepening the hold of grassroots sports will pave the way for larger developments in the country’s push for sports development,” Ramirez told coaches, technical officials and athletes in a recent meeting at the Rizal Memorial Sports Complex.

“Thank you for being here and lending your time and skills,” he said.

Aside from the National Games, other events the commission has lined up are Batang Pinoy in Vigan this month, Children’s Games and Indigenous Games.

The commission is also cooperating with the Department of Education for a “bigger and better” Palarong Pambansa.

Pangasinan hosted the Philippine National Games last year.

“If we do something, let us do it the best we could. Let us make a great edition of the PNG and discover the hidden gems in our youth,” said Ramirez. (PNA)
