BACOLOD City – Criminal charges and jail time were what a laborer in Barangay Camansi, Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental was facing for indiscriminately discharging an unlicensed firearm.
Archie Labastera Voluntate, 45, was detained at the Kabankalan City police station and charged with violation of the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act, police said.
The drunken Voluntate fired his Magnum .357 revolver twice while yelling, “Guwa kamo da kay pamatyon ta kamo tanan (Show yourselves and I’ll kill you all),” at around 8:30 p.m. on All Saints’ Day, said the police.
Voluntate went toward his cousin Junjie Alon. Sensing threat, the latter disarmed Voluntate and restrained him with the help of his brother-in-law, Rico Alegria.
Barangay tanods Rommel Aliguin and Joshua Palata brought Voluntate to the barangay hall along with the revolver, two bullets for a .38 revolver, and two empty shells, before turning him over to the police./PN
