BACOLOD City – An altercation after a vehicular accident led to the stabbing of a Barangay Estefania resident on All Saints’ Day.
Otche Macapas, 33, sustained a stab wound on the back and some scratches on the left arm but was now out of danger, police said.
Officers were still searching for the suspect – 44-year-old Eliberto Helle of the same village – as of this writing.
Macapas was driving a Honda Civic car with his wife on board when the tricycle that Helle was driving hit the car’s driver’s side, said Senior Police Officer 1 Jared Esquilla, Police Station 4 investigator.
The Macapas couple alighted from the car to check the damage but Helle, who was believed drunk, confronted the wife and yelled, “Inyo na sala kay kamo nagsaga-id sa akon (You hit my vehicle, it’s your fault),” said Esquilla.
The car was on the right lane, the police officer said.
Helle then drew out a knife from his sling bag and charged at the couple. Macapas took the attack to protect his wife, police said.
Helle fled on board his tricycle./PN
