ILOILO City – An estafa suspect refused to come with officers who served her with an arrest warrant, and threatened to file charges against them and have them killed, a police report showed.
Her threats prompted the officers to accost Ma. Virginia Christina Naces, 58, of Barangay Tabucan, Mandurriao district.
Naces was charged with six counts of violation of Batas Pambansa 22. Her warrant of arrest, issued by Presiding Judge Norma Z. Go of the National Capital Region Metropolitan Trial Court Branch 50, was dated April 30, 2008 yet.
When officers served her the warrant at around 5:45 p.m. on Nov. 23, she threatened them.
“Kon arestuhon niyo ko, bwas pang-file-an ta kamo kaso,” the police report quoted her as saying. She told the officers to serve the warrant the following day.
Naces insisted that she had documents to prove that her case had already been “settled.”
She searched her house. It was already 8:20 p.m. and she was still unable to show the documents she claimed to have.
With her relatives intervening, the suspect remained adamant. She also called her lawyer, the police report stated.
When the officers asked her to come with them to the Mandurriao police station, Naces shouted, “Indi niyo ko madala sa Mandurriao! Diri pa lang ipapatay ta kamo! Damo ako diri tinaho kag pamilya!”
That was when the officers accosted her. She struggled to get off of the officers’ grip while “shouting and cursing” at them, stated the police report.
The court set a P32,000 bail bond for her temporary liberty.
Naces was hauled to the Mandurriao police station custodial facility but she was able to post bail on Nov. 24./PN
