ILOILO City – A 24-year-old man was shot yesterday on San Jose Street at Smallville in Mandurriao district.
Remier Tan, a resident of Lawaan Village in Jaro, died.
The suspect, 22-year-old Vanlen Jyro Joseph Hulleza of Barangay Sambag, Jaro, had been arrested.
Tan was walking at the entertainment complex at around 5:35 a.m. when attacked, said the police.
Officers launched a hot pursuit that led to the arrest of Hulleza a few hours later.
After reviewing security camera footage, the police were able to identify the suspect through a white car that he used to flee.
Tan sustained multiple gunshot wounds on the body but his fatal hit was on the head, police said. He was taken to the Iloilo Doctors’ Hospital where he expired.
Hulleza was detained at the custodial facility of the Mandurriao police station.
The Iloilo City Police Office was still trying to establish the motive as of this writing./PN
